The power of Now.
The Power of NOW. By Eckhart Tolle.
Sunday, December 14, 2008
It says we have to live in the Present. Sounds easy, but it's not. Living in the 'NOW' means being focused and enjoying what u are doing this very moment. Because the NOW u are in will be a past. Future will also come as NOW, but it is not here yet. Why think and worry about the future when u can focus at this very moment to make it very happy and beautiful? Some examples of "living in the Present" is, be focused when you are eating, strolling, bathing, talking etc. When you focus on eating, you can actually feel the flavour so intense and magnificent. Don't let your mind wander. Feel the quality of the food. Imagine what good the food will do to your body. When you are walking home after work, slow down your pace, take a look at the surroundings - you will realise the trees, the flowers, the sky, and the birds which don't used to be there, suddenly 'appears'. They don't just appear. They are always there, but you hurried your way to and back home, you didn't bother to slow down and enjoy the scenery. When you are bathing, focus on the warm-ness of the water trickling down your face, your body. Feel every inch of your muscles relaxed. When you talk to people, look at them into the eye. Give them the attention. Don't let your eyes wander, looking at the person next to you eating char kway teow or the couple kissing opposite you. Respect the person talking to you, use your heart to listen to what the person says. All these, i reckon, is because you don't know when exactly is your LAST "NOW". People tends to treasure that very moment only when death is nearing. It is very very sad. To put it in an uglier way, this moment may be your Last "Now". The late Ms Lo, who passed away in the recent terrorist attack in India. She has lots of plans for the future. About her career, holiday trips, even made plans to have babies. But she passed away, before she can even realise it! What i am very impressed by her is, she lived in the Present even though she know she is dying. She treasured her last moment, phoned her husband and emailed her friends, telling them she loved them. At least before she died she was a happy lady. Very important, just be who you are. Don't worry about what other people think or says about you. Live in the very Present. Live in the "Now". Make it so beautiful, that even if it's the LAST "NOW", you will still die as a happy person. ♥ Blogging in A Jolly Haven @ 11:10 am
