It's good to carry a pair of sunglasses with you when you take public transport these days. You never know when you might just end up on the front page of the newspaper.

Visit STOMP, and you can easily find articles with pictures included (they don't even mozaic the face!), about the "inconsiderate" who apparently dosen't give up his/her seats to the needy. In the beginning it was hilarious reading these aricles. As more and more of such things appears, you find it boring. And it's defamatory. The person who took those pictures don't even know the whole story. Maybe the elderly or pregnant lady was offered a seat but they declined it? Or perhaps the sleeping young chap was really tired from work and was sleeping soundly, yet was captured and labelled "inconsiderate chap pretending to sleep"?

These days, i feel so stressful taking the public transport. I have back problem, i can't stand too long. Most days im in high heels. So when the seat in front of me is cleared, of course i will take it. But whenever "someone who needs the seat more than i do" appears, i will offer it to them. Many a times, i have problems identifying if a women is pregnant or just FAT. So i will look hard at their stomach, wondering if i should give up my seat, and got stared back. Last week i spent a whopping 2 minutes trying to identify if a lady standing in front of my seat if she's fat or expecting. In the end i got tired wondering i just stand up gracefully. Guess what? She didn't take the seat. A few months ago, i had an appointment at pasir ris. I was so tired i slept through the whole green line. When i opened my eyes at Clementi, there was an old lady standing in front of me. My immediate thought was "SHIT?!?!? My face will be in The Straits Times tomorrow". Of course i offered her the seat but she politely declined. What the...? Luckily i wasn't snapped.

There are 2 kinds of people you can see on the public transport. The group who are enthusiastic in offering their seats to the needy, and the group who don't. I've seen people rushing to offer seats to man and women with white hair. Note here: White hair.
I've witness a young lady falling asleep immediately at outram park mrt station when a few old ladies board the train and stood in front of her. I've witness ugly men and women rushing and snatching seats. I've seen a pregnant lady giving up her Priority Seat to another pregnant lady. And an elderly offering his seat to another stick-thin old man. Sad.

If you want to rest peacefully after work or school on the train, go to the cabins on the extreme ends to avoid getting snapped and being labelled Inconsiderate. I can only say, the elderly often takes the elevator and will end up in the MIDDLE of the train station.

Lazy to walk to the extreme ends? Wear a pair of shades.
